Raniganj

Raniganj is a town located in Bhardhaman district, West Bengal. It is a famous for coal mining in India. It is ideally located where the national highways connect the coal mines with nearby cities and the state capital Kolkata, thus making it a commercial business district. It is also a hub for the nearby gram panchayats.

There are several budget hotels in and around Raniganj which provide good accommodation. Some of them are Peerless Inn (Tariff – Rs. 2000), Hotel Asansol Inn, Uttam Hotel, The Neelkanth Hotel and Hotel RK Continental.

Language
The official language of Raniganj is Bengali.

Events
The important festival celebrated in Raniganj is the Durga Puja. It is celebrated during the months of September-October.

Places of Interest
There are several places of tourist interest in and around Raniganj. Some of them are Aquatica Fish Aquarium (1.5 km away from the bus station), Sishubgan Over Head Water Reservoir (2 km away), Anand Amusement Park, Durgapur (22 km away) and Madhaiganj Airfield (35 km away).

How to Get There
Air:
The nearest airport to Raniganj is Dhanbad Airport. It is about 70 km away.

Rail:
Raniganj railway station located in station road is only about 100 metres away from the bus station. It is connected to major destinations such as Howrah, Durgapur, Nimcha, Asansol, Kolkata, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Jammu Tawi, Ajmer and Amritsar.

Bus:
There are daily buses available to Raniganj bus stand from Kolkata, Howrah, Delhi, and Durgapur. West Bengal’s state transport corporation operates buses to Ranigunj.
