Podi

Podi is a small tehsil (village) located in the district of Surguja, Chhattisgarh. Podi is one of the 76 villages in the region. Podi is significant because it is unscathed by pollution but is not remote. Surajpur, the district headquarters is only about 20 km away from Podi. Podi’s population is 1266, where male and female population are equal in number.

Events
Some of the famous festivals celebrated in Podi are Chaitra Navatra, held in the month of April, Shivaratri, Dussehra, which begins in the Chhattisgari month of Sharavan. Dussehra is celebrated for a period of 75 days! 

Places of Interest
Mahamaya Mandir situated in Devpur is a famous temple dedicated to Mahamaya Devi (100 km away). Taat Pani is another famous site around Podi. Taat Pani is a natural hot spring which is believed to have medicinal properties.

How to Get There
Air:
The nearest airport is the Raipur Airport, which is about 220 km away.

Rail:
The closest railway station is the Gevra Road Railway Station in Kusmunda and it is 35 km away. Another railhead that is close to Podi is Korba, which is 46 km away from Podi.
Bus:
Buses connect Podi with nearby towns and cities. One can take a bus from major cities such as Raipur, Kharagpur, Amgaon and Surajpur to Gevra or Korba and take connecting buses to Podi. One of the best operators who operate buses to Podi’s nearby cities is Kanker Roadways.
